Is this mould?

Four questions. You do not need to photograph anything and you do not need an account — you are probably holding the jar.

Then it is probably not mould.

No growth, no film, no liquid and no sharp smell — then you are most likely looking at a starter that just seems sluggish. The starter check looks further than these four questions.

What you do now

  1. 1 Stir it through and look for bubbles inside.
  2. 2 Feed 1:2:2 and put a mark on the jar.
  3. 3 Do the starter check if it has not risen within twelve hours.
